Friday, September 11, 2009 - Chief 143 and Engine 143 responded into Exeter Borough at Pride Mobility for a possible commercial structure fire as the Rapid Intervention Team. Upon arrival, Chief 143 was requested to assist Assistant Chief 128 (Johnson) at the Command Post with Accountability and Incident Command. The crew from Engine 143 wasted no time conducting a size up of the structure for potential hazards and then stood fast at the Command Post with the necessary equipment for RIT Team operations.
The first arriving companies found a small fire in the R&D Department that had already been extinguished by the staff prior to their arrival on scene. Even though the staff closed the interior fire doors, most of the building was filled with smoke which took several ventilation fans to properly ventilate the large building.
Engine 143 remained on scene for approximately one and a half hours before being released by 128 Command. There were no injuries reported on scene and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
